When to Buy A House
Published on Wednesday, 13 January 2010

In this day and age where people are losing their homes faster than other people are able to buy them, it's easy to jump to the conclusion that it's now or never - buy a house before prices jump back up again. That may be a good conclusion when taken at face value, but you always need to remember that there's a reason why some people lost their homes in the first place. So make sure that you won't fall into the same pit as they did and always study the mortgage payments you'll be making in the long term. Also, the timing you send in your bid is critical, and several experts have pointed to the cold season as being the best time to place a low big that might be taken seriously. The rationale behind this is that people, particularly real estate agents, are in the holiday season mode, so any offers you make will probably be shelved to look at after New Year. However, the homeowners who are selling their homes are still waiting for buyers, so you can go directly to them and place a bid, and most likely get accepted. This way actually works best for both buyer and seller, as you are both dealing directly with each other without the interference of a real estate broker or agent with outside interests.
