Preparation for Furniture Removal

Published on Tuesday, 08 December 2009

Here are few advices for preparation on your furniture removal:

* Eight Weeks in Advance

Make sure that you are almost done searching for a furniture removal companies as early as eight weeks before the removal day. You can do this by seeking online or flipping the pages through newspaper ads.  Estimate the cost so you will know how much this will set you back, and get recommendations to see if they are good ones.

* Sort out and Throw Out Seven Weeks Before

Seven weeks beforehand, at least, make two different lists: the things that you will be taking and the things that you don't need. Throw out the things that you don't need. You'll probably remember everything in your house. So you'll have to decide as you go further.

* Six Weeks Ahead of Documents

Six weeks before relocation day, be sure that you have all the important papers you need in a folder: bank records, medical documents, passports and social security cards. Also be concerned about changing forwarding addresses for magasine and newspaper subscriptions.

* Five to Four Weeks Ahead

Make appointments with moving companies five to four weeks before your moving day. This is also the time to go inform the post office about the change of address.  Make sure to check if furniture needs to be packed properly before the removal to avoid hassles on moving day.

In the last three weeks, return the things that don't belong to you, so you won't have to carry them when you move. Begin packing things that you don't use very often. At the final week, pack your furniture from top to bottom.
