Pack Your Fragile Belongings in 10 Easy Steps

Published on Thursday, 25 February 2010

One of the biggest challenges in packing for a move is china. China wares, glasses and plates break easily that is why it is important that they are handled with care. In packing for china wares, you may need more than just cushions to protect your fragile belongings.
Secured Packing with these 10 easy-to-follow steps:
Step 1: Prepare you packing must-haves: packing tape, cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, and newspapers.
Step 2: Individually wrap each item with newspaper or bubble wrap and secure them with a tape. Separately organize flat fragile items from glasses and cups.
Step 3: Place a generous amount of bubble wrap or newspaper at the bottom of the box to give cushion to your fragile items.
Step 4: Place glasses and cups in an upright position. Then on top, place cardboard and bubble wrap. Similarly, place your wrapped plates on top of each other.
Step 5: Make alternate layers of fragile items and padding.
Step 6: Do step 4 and 5 until you fill the top. Remember to fill the gaps with padding to avoid friction while moving.
Step 7: Close the box and secure it with a packing tape.
Step 8: Label the box properly. Write down ?fragile' and ?this side up' on each box.
Step 9: Place the boxes in a secure position where they can be safe from accidental bumps while on the road. Use blankets to ensure extra support for your fragile materials.
Step 10: Don't forget to inform your movers about these special boxes that may need extra attention when moving.
Packing your fragile items requires extra dedication to guarantee that they will arrive in good condition after the move. However, if you don't have much time to do the packing yourself, it is best to ask for professional help from your moving company.
