Make Unpacking a Cinch!
Published on Thursday, 07 June 2012

Make Unpacking a Cinch! Now that the difficult task of packing and moving everything is over it is time to start unpacking the boxes that are packed in sitting here and there in the new destination. Unpacking the boxes is much easier especially since all the steps to make the unpacking easy were taken, right? What are the steps? You didn't know about the steps that needed to be taken to make unpacking a breeze or in better words a cinch. Next just follow these simple steps to make the unpacking that much easy.

The first thing that need to be done while packing to benefit the unpacking after the move is to make sure that everything is properly labeled or marked so you know exactly what is packed in each box. Get the permanent ready to mark all the boxes that need to be labeled, unless you plan on reusing the boxes then you may not want to write directly on the boxes and if that is the case then put a strip of tape on the box and write on it. Write whatever you choose as long as it gives an idea as to what is in the box. This will help when it's time to unpack the boxes at the new place.

The second thing you should during the packing is try not to seal the boxes with so much tape that a knife needed to get into it. If it is preferred then have a box-cutter ready so when it is time to unpack all that is needed is a nice clean cut to open the boxes. This will keep the boxes in good condition, just in case they are needed for future use.

Another step that helps during the unpacking is to centrally stack the boxes in the new location, like a bedroom in the back. The living room is everyone's first choice for this but the living room gets the most traffic usually as the van is being unloaded.

If there will be multiple people unpacking the boxes this would be ideal but this is not always the case. After all the boxes are in the new home, in one room. Start the unpacking box by box, most people move there labeled boxes or unlabeled into this room and that room and then bounce around here or there and this can move people off track, although this technique does work great for multiple people, for one person it can become a headache. Work box by box and the difference is evident, well at least if you have had a lot of experience in moving and packing.

There are numerous things that can be taken to make the unpacking easier for you in the long run, just remember the main fact, which is to make the unpacking easier later, take steps while you are packing. After the boxes are packed it is really too late to know what is in them and it is likely to slip your mind during the move which box is which if they are not labeled. So next time there is a move to coordinate, pack label and unpack with ease later.
