How to Minimize Expense during a Move

When on a limited budget, you have no choice but to do the move yourself. It would help if you have sufficient time to do everything. If you plan and organize everything, there should be no reason why you will not have a smooth removal too.
First get rid of the things you will have no use anymore. This will reduce the number of items you have to pack and it would also make the task less daunting. If you sell some of them, you even get to have more money for the move.
In preparing the packing materials, you could ask for sturdy boxes from family and friends especially if they have recently just moved. You can also ask for some boxes from local groceries and liquor store. Old newspapers would serve as great padding at the bottom of the boxes. You could also use them as wrappers for breakables.
Instead of
hiring a removals company, you could
rent a van instead. This would be so much less expensive.
Although some van rentals charge by the hour, you would still have the luxury of following your own schedule since you would not have to worry about keeping and paying the movers.
You could ask help from friends so you can lift heavy boxes and big furniture. To make things easier for you, having the right tools would help. For instance, if you have a dolly or a hand truck loading boxes would be easier.
Again, as long as you organize and coordinate things properly you would have a smooth and a less stressful move. Even if you end doing everything yourself, you would still be able to conduct your move the way you want to at minimal cost.
