The first thing you should do when packing is to sort your things. In order to save money you should try to limit the things to bring to your new home. For instance, if you have clothes you have not used for more than a year now it's time to dispose them. You could also have some old furniture or appliances that will not be needed in your new place. What you can do is sort your things from room to room and stack all the things you no longer need in a designated area. You could do this in the basement so the things will not obstruct your way around the house. Now to dispose these items which you no longer need, you could throw a party and tell your friends to take what they want from the stack. If some are shy to get anything, explain that you will only get rid of these things anyway. If after the party there are still so many things to dispose of, you can contact a second hand store to pick them up. Many of them would gladly take your stuff because they will be earning from them. You can also donate the stuff to the community center. That way you can continue packing the things. It would be easier with less to pack and more space for you to do the packing in.
