Dealing with Hourly Movers' Rates
Published on Wednesday, 18 August 2010
Hiring movers by the hour has many advantages: your schedule will be much more flexible and you have the opportunity to save money if the job is done quickly. The downside, however, is that if your move takes longer than you expected, you may be forced to exceed your budget. To avoid stress, make sure that everything works for, rather than
against, the movers. Make them do as little as possible. Having your things neatly tucked away in boxes is a good start, but you can definitely do more to speed
up the moving process. First, have everything ready for moving in a single room, preferably the garage, so that the movers will have the best possible access. Think how the stackers will go about putting your possessions in the truck and make your setup as accommodating as possible. Second, have anything that needs to be disassembled ready for moving. If you don't have to necessary know-how, the equipment or the will to do this yourself, you can have the movers do this, but at extra cost. Schedule at the best time Thinking about traffic conditions will help you and the movers avoid rush hour. Good weather will also help you save on hours.
